Welcome to Leongatha Sharks Swimming Club
At Leongatha Sharks, our focus is on encouraging all swimmers of every ability to do their best and have fun! We also pride ourselves on being an inclusive family friendly club. In 2016, LASC integrated our training with South Gippsland Bass Swimming Club (SGB). Training fees are set by and paid to SGB directly. LASC do not have any membership/registration costs to compete in the SGSA competition however fundraising is necessary to pay for club expenses. The Leongatha Sharks entered into the integration of training with SGB as a means of keeping a high standard of coaching in place. All swimmers must be insured through Swimming Victoria.
South Gippsland Bass Swimming Club (SGB)
SGB compete in the higher performance swimming competition known as Gippsland Swimming Incorporated (GSI), which runs for 6 months of the year, culminating in the Gippsland Championships over the March long weekend. Although the main focus is on competing in the GSI meets, many SGB swimmers also participate in swim meets from other clubs, and some swim in Country, State and National Competitions.
Leongatha Sharks members are welcome to swim only in the SGSA, or in the GSI meets as a SGB swimmer (once all fees and insurances have been paid). Or a swimmer can swim in both streams, as many current Sharks members do today.
